Alvaro Arbeloa takes a dig at Barcelona
The Real Madrid defender Alvaro Arbeloa took a dig at Barcelona, who are now four points behind after their defeat against Luis Enrique's team in Anoeta. He posted a message on social media stating, "How difficult it is to win against eleven!"
Arbeloa recalled the incident in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-finals at Camp Nou, when Barcelona turned the game around against Atletico Madrid after Fernando Torres was sent off for a controversial foul on Sergio Busquets.
"How difficult it is to win against eleven! Great performance by Illarra and amazing Granero, promise fulfilled. Congratulations pirate!" he wrote on his official Twitter account, referring to two Real Sociedad players who were former teammates at Real Madrid. He also revealed that he had a promise from Granero to defeat the league leaders.
Minutes later, Pique responded in the mixed zone, saying, "A player who has started only once in 32 matches doesn't deserve much attention from me. I always tell my friends to let me know if I ever find myself in his situation: not being a protagonist on the field but off it."
But the fight didn't end there as Arbeloa used his social media again to address the issue. "The truth hurts," the Real Madrid player told Pique, to which Pique responded by correcting his spelling mistakes.
