Samuel Eto'o published an apology letter following his altercation with an Algerian YouTuber, who confronted him about the controversy surrounding Cameroon's qualification for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

On Monday night, Samuel Eto'o kicked Saduni SM, a well-known Algerian youtuber, after being questioned about the controversy surrounding Cameroon's qualification for the 2022 Qatar World Cup, following their dramatic overtime victory over Algeria (1-2). Following the incident, the retired footballer published a letter of apology titled "My sincere apologies."

"On December 5th, after the Brazil-South Korea match, I had a violent altercation with a person who was probably an Algerian fan. I would like to apologize for losing my temper and reacting in a way that is not consistent with my personality," began the current President of the Cameroonian Football Federation.

Similarly, Samuel Eto'o referred to the constant attacks against the 'Indomitable Lions' for their qualification to the World Cup: "I apologize to the public for this unfortunate incident. I pledge to continue resisting the relentless provocation and daily harassment of some Algerian fans. In fact, since the Cameroon-Algeria match on March 29th in Blida, I have been subjected to insults and unsubstantiated cheating allegations," he said.

"During this World Cup, Cameroonian fans have been harassed and bothered by Algerians on the same issue. I would like to mention that the outcome of the Algeria defeat was cruel, but perfectly in line with the rules and ethics of our sport. All appeals filed by the Algerian Football Federation with the competent authorities have been dismissed," he added.

"Therefore, I call on the Algerian authorities and the Federation to take responsibility and put an end to this unhealthy climate before a more serious tragedy occurs. To the 'Fennecs' fans, I wish them peace and the ability to overcome the disappointment of a painful defeat, which is already behind us," 'Samu' concluded in his statement.

It is worth mentioning that Saduni SM, the victim in the incident, revealed that he suffered several injuries and has filed a complaint against Samuel Eto'o for assault. Additionally, the youtuber stated that his camera and microphone were destroyed, which is why he included material damages in his accusation before the authorities.
