LONDON, England.- Manchester City is confident of comfortably securing their place in the quarterfinals of the Champions League on Tuesday against Dynamo Kyiv, who are seeking an upset.
Chilean Manuel Pellegrini's men, who stumbled again in the Premier League last weekend (0-0 draw against Norwich City), go into the second leg of the round of 16 with a 3-1 advantage from three weeks ago at the NSK Olympiyskiy in Kyiv.
We invite you to follow the live minute-by-minute coverage on our Match Center for the match between Manchester City Vs Dynamo Kyiv, which will kick off at 3:45 pm ET.
After Chelsea's elimination and the highly likely elimination of Arsenal on Wednesday against Barcelona, City could be the only English representative left in the top continental competition.
"The advantage we achieved in the first leg is very important, but this is not over yet. The worst thing we could do is think we are already qualified. It is crucial to know that we are facing a great team like Dynamo Kyiv," said Pellegrini.
City's midfielder Yaya Touré, who missed the last weekend's match against Norwich due to injury, will be back for the game. "Yaya is recovered, he has no problem and can play," confirmed Pellegrini.
On the other hand, midfielders Kevin De Bruyne, Samir Nasri, and Fabian Delph remain injured for the Citizens.
Dynamo Kyiv travels to Manchester aware that overturning the result of the first leg is almost impossible, but with nothing to lose, especially considering the recent results of the English team.
Since losing against Pellegrini's men, Dynamo has won two consecutive matches in the league, where they have climbed to the top position after Shakhtar Donetsk's defeat.
Dynamo's coach, Serhiy Rebrov, did not make excuses after the loss in Kyiv, but hopes his players come out without the complexes and nerves that overwhelmed them three weeks ago.
The difference from the first leg is that Dynamo's star, Andriy Yarmolenko, is fully recovered from the discomfort that kept him sidelined for several weeks and prevented him from performing against City.
Not only is he in better physical condition, but he has also scored in the last three official matches played since then, two in the league and one in the cup.
If they are unable to eliminate the English team, the Ukrainians will bid farewell to the top continental competition in the round of 16, a phase they have not reached since 1999.
