During the match between Arsenal of England and Zurich for Group F of the Europa League, the news of the death of Queen Elizabeth II surprised the players and attendees at the Stadion Letzigrund Zurich stadium.

Before the start of the second half of the match, the footballers from both teams positioned themselves around the center circle of the field and embraced each other.

Then, a minute of silence was observed as a sign of condolence for the passing of the sovereign at the age of 96.

Through their official social media accounts, Arsenal expressed their sorrow for the departure of Queen Elizabeth II of England.

"We deeply lament the news of the passing of Her Majesty the Queen. Along with many of our followers today, we will take time to mourn and reflect on Her Majesty's incredible life and dedicated service," wrote the "gunners".

It is worth mentioning that the monarch also expressed her sympathy for a Premier League football team.

As she revealed herself to former coach Arsene Wenger, Thierry Henry, and the rest of the players during a reception at Buckingham Palace in 2007.
