Minute by minute updates of the Wolfsburg 1-0 Gante match

A goal from André Schürrle gave Wolfsburg the victory over Gante on Tuesday and secured their spot in the quarterfinals of the Champions League, which they had already secured with an away win against the Belgian team.

Gante had control of the match for a large part of the first 45 minutes, although without creating clear goal opportunities.

With great tactical discipline, they managed to neutralize Wolfsburg and close their build-up play, forcing the German team to play many long balls that didn't reach anyone.

Gante's game showed more coherence and the ball belonged to the Belgians, but Wolfsburg had the best chance of the first half with a shot from Guillavogui from outside the area that goalkeeper Marc Sels deflected for a corner kick.

Despite the fact that the result of the first leg forced Gante to seek a victory by two goals difference, they played with patience and Wolfsburg seemed to accept the course of the match as long as the ball was far from their area.

At the end of the first half, Wolfsburg improved slightly and at the beginning of the second half, the German team started to be more offensive and took control of the ball, which Gante had taken away for a large part of the first 45 minutes.

The game started to be played more in Gante's half and Wolfsburg tried to combine near the opponent's area.

Although Gante had their first clear chance in that phase, a deflected shot from Milecevic in the 58th minute, Wolfsburg had started to dominate the field.

In the 56th minute, the Brazilian Luiz Gustavo had a good opportunity after a corner kick and in the 60th minute, André Schürrle came close to scoring.

Close to the 70th minute, Gante, with the substitutions of Coulibaly and Saief, increased the intensity of their game, but Wolfsburg continued to dominate and André Schürrle scored the only goal of the match in the 74th minute after a pass from Julian Draxler.
