The outstanding performances of Gustavo Dulanto
Gustavo Dulanto's outstanding performances with the Sheriff Tiraspol jersey, both in the domestic tournament and in the Champions League, have been key for him to stay in Europe. The defender decided to change clubs for the rest of the year and was presented as the new reinforcement of Riga FC in Latvia.
The Peruvian center-back had advanced conversations with the Latvian team and a few days ago he arrived at the club's headquarters to finalize details of his contract. After meeting the requirements of both parties, the towering player was officially presented through social media.
"Welcome to Riga, Gustavo!", highlighted the sports entity on Twitter and accompanied the publication with some snapshots of the protagonist. In the images, you can see the defender with his new jersey and also at the Skonto Stadium, which will now become his home.
Let's remember that the team is competing in the knockout stage of the Conference League, the third most important international club tournament in Europe. In the second round, coached by Kristaps Blanks, they will face Ruzomberok from Slovakia, first away and then at home (July 21 and 28 respectively).
Similarly, Dulanto did not hide his joy for the challenge he is taking on in his professional career. "Ready to write a new story in my career with Riga FC", said the 27-year-old defender on Instagram.
It is worth mentioning that in the 2021-22 season, Gustavo was the champion of the Moldavian League with Sheriff, playing 22 matches (18 as a starter), and even scored a goal; he also made four appearances in the Cup (champion) and Super Cup. At the same time, the defender had 14 appearances in the Champions League and one more in the Europa League.
