Universidad de Chile is going through one of its worst crises of recent times. The poor campaign in this 2022 season, which has the blue team again very close to the relegation zone, caused the departure of coach Santiago Escobar and later that of sports manager Luis Roggiero.
That is why, the student team is looking for a new coach, a position that has already seen several names emerge as candidates. And in the last few hours, the name of an old acquaintance from Chilean football has been added: César Vigevani, who coached Unión San Felipe, Cobreloa, and Huachipato.
The Argentine confirmed contacts and interest from the La U team, stating in a conversation with Redgol: "I know my name is on the table and that there have been contacts with my agent. That's all I know, frankly. The rest, I let it flow because we know how football works."
"The truth is, I found out today (Wednesday), and I'm proud that my name is being mentioned. It's also an internal satisfaction that it happened because we know what Universidad de Chile represents. It's going through a difficult situation, but it's still the dream of any coach," he added.
Furthermore, the Argentine added: "Who wouldn't be tempted? It happened to me when I was coaching in Chile, in Cobreloa. I had a personal approach with La U once, which didn't work out for other reasons, but sincerely, it's a satisfaction for me."
