FIFA sanction on Atlético de Madrid not enough to keep Fernando Torres
The sanction imposed by FIFA on Atlético de Madrid, which prevents them from making transfers in the summer 2016 and winter 2017 markets, was not enough for Diego Simeone to keep Fernando Torres in the squad.
'El Cholo' spoke with the striker last Monday and let him know that if it were up to him, he wouldn't sign him permanently in the closing of the transfer window, however, Miguel Ángel Gil Marín, owner of the club, left the door open for Torres.
If FIFA grants the provisional suspension of the sanction and the player improves his performance, he can stay with 'Los Colchoneros', but if the governing body of world football rejects the appeal, Torres will be out.
Asked about it before the Copa del Rey match, Simeone said "we have talked to Fernando Torres and he knows what I think and he has told me what he believes. The conversation remains private. We have talked, which is what matters."
'El Niño' arrived at 'Atleti' from Milan on loan in January 2015; however, he has not shined on the field, with only two goals in 16 La Liga matches this season.
