Peñarol from Uruguay, first rival of Sporting Cristal in the Copa Libertadores, announced the hiring of Uruguayan coach Jorge Da Silva to replace Pablo Bengoechea. The 'Polilla' already had the opportunity to face a Peruvian team, although it didn't go well for him.
It happened in the 2011 Copa Sudamericana. Jorge Da Silva was wearing the Godoy Cruz jersey from Argentina and was facing Universitario de Deportes. After drawing 1-1 in both matches, Universitario advanced to the quarterfinals by winning on penalties in Callao. Now their rival will be Sporting Cristal.
This is not the first time Jorge Da Silva has coached Peñarol. He won the title of the Uruguayan Championship 2012/2013 with the yellow and black team. In addition to the domestic tournament, the 'Polilla' will have the challenge of the Copa Libertadores.
