After Óscar Washington Tabárez's departure from Uruguay, three coaches are being considered as his possible replacements for the final stretch of the Eliminations.

Óscar Washington Tabárez has ceased to be the coach of Uruguay after 15 years and many records surpassed. The poor results in the Qatar 2022 qualifiers defined the 'Maestro's' fate and put an end to an era that had many emotions, goals, good and bad streaks.

The 'Maestro' Tabárez has left the helm of the 'Celeste' with numbers that will go down in history. However, the current situation of Uruguay tilted the balance for his dismissal and the Uruguayan Football Association (AUF) is already in search of his replacement.

According to the latest information, Diego Aguirre (Internacional de Porto Alegre), Guillermo Almada (Santos Laguna), and Hernán Crespo (Sao Paulo) are mentioned as possible replacements. It is also indicated that the first two coaches are to the liking of the AUF and have already been approached to determine the conditions and clauses they would have to fulfill.

End of an era

Óscar Washington Tabárez completed his second stint as coach of Uruguay since 2006 (the year he returned to the position), registering 224 matches, 106 wins, 58 draws, 60 losses, one Copa America title (2011), consecutive qualifications to the World Cups, and a fourth-place finish in the 2010 World Cup.

In the Qatar 2022 qualifiers, Uruguay is in seventh place with 16 points, outside the playoff zone. The 'Celeste' will try to recover in the last four matchdays of the continental competition.
