Rafa Márquez and Lionel Messi had a Crossing in Barcelona

For seven seasons, Rafa Márquez left his mark on Barcelona's history as a defender for the team. However, one of the pleasures he had during his time as a blaugrana was to share the dressing room with Lionel Messi.

Márquez scolded Messi for his low performance in training

While the 'flea', with his talent and goals, became the institution's greatest idol, the former Mexican center-back revealed an anecdote in which he had a confrontation with the 'flea' due to Messi's poor performance in training.

"They gave the ball to Messi and he started dribbling past one player and another, he reached the goal and didn't score. I don't like to lose, not even in marbles, so I scolded Leo because he wasn't passing the ball and wasn't scoring," Márquez declared on 'TUDN'.

Pep Guardiola intervened to stop the argument

The six-time Ballon d'Or winner didn't stay quiet and Guardiola had to intervene to stop the discussion. "Messi got angry and we started arguing. Pep came in and silenced Leo. That's when the argument ended."

On the other hand, when asked about the coach who influenced him the most throughout his career, the Mexican highlighted Manchester City's current manager over the others.

"I had very good coaches, from Ricardo La Volpe, Deschamps, Guardiola... It's difficult, but if I had to choose one, it would be Guardiola. He is a perfectionist, I love how he sets up games and his day-to-day work."
