El defensor sufrió una lesión en los isquiotibiales del muslo derecho en el partido ante Argentina. La AUF anunció que no jugará el jueves contra Brasil.

Through a statement, the Uruguayan Football Association confirmed that Ronald Araujo will miss Uruguay's next match against Brazil for the 12th round of the Qatar 2022 Qualifiers. The 'charrúa' defender suffered an injury to the hamstring of his right thigh against Argentina last Thursday. Araujo left the concentration and will return to Barcelona to work on his recovery.

The AUF reported that the defender finished the match against Argentina with discomfort in his thigh and, after conducting exams, the results turned out to be negative for the player, as he was ruled out for the Thursday match against the Brazil National Team due to a hamstring injury in his right leg.

"The AUF's Health Department reports that the footballer Ronald Araujo finished the match against Argentina last Sunday, October 10, with discomfort in his right thigh. The study conducted last night confirmed a hamstring injury in his right leg, so he was ruled out for the match next Thursday against Brazil," the statement said.

Araujo joins the list of injured players that the Uruguayan National Team has for the Thursday's match against the 'Canarinha', as it should be recalled that José María Giménez and Giorgian De Arrascaeta will also miss this match.

Despite the adversity, Uruguay is preparing to visit Brazil in an important match of the qualifiers, considering that the Celestes have only added one point in the triple matchday of October and have put their direct qualification spot for the Qatar 2022 World Cup at risk.

On the other hand, Barcelona also issued a statement regarding the defender, informing that the Uruguayan will have to return to Barcelona for the follow-up of the injury by the club's medical staff. Catalan fans are already worried because the Spanish football classic is approaching and Araujo is a key player in Koeman's team.

When and at what time do Uruguay and Brazil play?

Uruguay will visit Brazil this Thursday at 7:30 p.m (Peru time) at the Arena de Amazonía Stadium.
