The French magazine France Football will unveil tomorrow the 30 candidates for the Ballon d'Or, which will be presented on November 29th, as well as the candidates for the Women's Ballon d'Or, the best goalkeeper award, and the best U-21 player of the year. The list of 30 candidates to win the prestigious award, which was not awarded last year due to the covid-19 pandemic, is compiled from the votes of 180 journalists from around the world. The last winner of the award was Argentine Lionel Messi, who won his sixth Ballon d'Or in 2020 and is favored to win the seventh according to betting houses, ahead of Polish Robert Lewandowski and Italian Jorginho. The 20 candidates for the Women's Ballon d'Or, which was won in its only edition so far by American Megan Rapinoe, will be selected by a jury of 50 journalists specializing in women's football. As for the Kopa Trophy, won in its last edition by Dutchman Matthijs de Ligt, 32 former Ballon d'Or winners will decide the 10 candidates, while the 10 candidates for the Yashin Trophy for best goalkeeper to replace Brazilian Alisson Becker will be chosen by the same jury as the men's Ballon d'Or.
