Luciano Spalletti, former coach of Roma and Inter Milan, will succeed Gennaro Gattuso as the head of Napoli, announced the president of the southern Italian club, Aurelio De Laurentiis, on Saturday.
"Welcome Luciano, together we will do a good job", said the Napoli president on Twitter.
Spalletti, 62, has been without a team since his experience at Inter Milan, where he led the 'Nerazzurri' to the Champions League in his two seasons (2017-2019).
This will be the goal with which he will start at Napoli, after the club failed in their attempts with Gattuso for two years (7th in 2019-20 and 5th in 2020-2021).
Gennaro Gattuso, whose relationship with the president has been cold for months, agreed this week to join Fiorentina.
Spalletti's record includes two Coppa Italia titles and a Supercoppa with Rome, as well as two Russian championships and a Russian Cup with Zenit St. Petersburg, which he managed between 2010 and 2014.
