Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF) Announces Finalists for the CONCACAF Awards
The Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF) announced the finalists for the third edition of the CONCACAF Awards, where the achievements of players, referees, and coaches from the entire confederation will be recognized.
The awards were designed to honor the best players, coaches, and referees in the male and female events of the CONCACAF region.
The players, referees, and coaches and their achievements in CONCACAF - in events organized in all age groups, including participation in the FIFA Women's and Men's World Cups - will be recognized. Achievements in the local leagues of member associations and the CONCACAF Scotiabank Champions League are also eligible.
The awards this year include:
1. Player of the Year
2. Female Player of the Year
3. Goalkeeper of the Year
4. Female Goalkeeper of the Year
5. Coach of the Year
6. Female Coach of the Year
7. Referee of the Year
8. Female Referee of the Year
9. Male Ideal XI
10. Female Ideal XI
11. Goal of the Year
For the first time, there will be voting for the Women and Men Ideal XI.
The lists of candidates will be voted by the captains and coaches of the member associations, the media, and the fans. The final votes will be counted as follows: coaches and captains 33.3%; media 33.3%; fans 33.3%. Fans from around the region and the world are invited to vote online.
Fans can vote for their preferred candidate in each category by visiting www.CONCACAF.com. Voting is open until Monday, January 18, 2016, at 5:00 pm Eastern Standard Time. The winners will be announced through the same website.
