The coach of RB Leipzig, Julian Nagelsmann, has asked his current club to terminate his contract -valid until 2023- to join Bayern Munich, according to information from the magazine 'Kicker'.

Leipzig, according to the same publication, demands a compensation of 25 million euros. Other media outlets even speak of 30 million euros.

In the event that Bayern were to pay such a sum, it would be the most expensive transfer of a coach in the history of football.

Until now, the record stands at the 15 million euros that Chelsea paid Porto for Andre Villa Boas in 2011.

Nagelsmann began to be considered as the main candidate to succeed Hansi Flick as the head of Bayern since the latter announced his desire to leave the club.

Flick's contract with Bayern also runs until 2023 and the president of the Executive Board, Karlheinz Rummenigge, has stated that a solution that leaves both parties satisfied will be sought.

This has been interpreted as Bayern wanting financial compensation.

Flick is a candidate to succeed Joachim Löw as coach after the European Championship, but the German Football Federation (DFB) has stated that it is not willing to pay for the transfer of the new coach.

"The DFB will not pay for the transfer because it has never paid transfers and also because, as a non-profit organization, it is difficult for it to do so," said the vice president of the DFB, Rainer Koch.

A solution would be for Flick to give up part of his salary -estimated at 8 million euros per year- or the bonus for the imminent Bundesliga title in this season, which amounts to 500,000 euros.

Leipzig is currently second in the Bundesliga, seven points behind Bayern. EFE
