The German Football Federation (DFB) has just announced the resignation of Joachim Löw as the German national team coach after the European Championship. The 61-year-old coach, whose contract runs until 2022, has decided to put an end to his long career leading the team.

The German Football Federation (DFB) has just announced the resignation of Joachim Löw as the German coach after the Eurocup. The 61-year-old coach, with a contract until 2022, has decided to put an end to his long career leading the German team one year earlier than planned.

Since 2006, when he took charge of Germany, Joachim Löw has coached the Mannschaft in a total of 188 games with an average of 2.11 points earned per match, the third best in the history of the European team.

Germany was a finalist in the 2008 Eurocup held in Switzerland and Austria, where they lost to Luis Aragonés's Spain 1-0 with a goal from Fernando Torres. Joachim Löw's greatest achievement was the victory in the 2014 World Cup, when Germany defeated Argentina in the final with a goal from Mario Götze.

The debacle in Seville against Spain (6-0)

The last match led by Löw to the date was the historic 6-0 defeat suffered against Spain in Seville in the group stage of the UEFA Nations League. The debacle at La Cartuja, in November 2020, left the German coach more than shaken.
