Carlos Alfaro Moreno, President of Barcelona Sporting Club, Responds to Controversy
Carlos Alfaro Moreno, president of Barcelona Sporting Club, reappeared to put an end to the controversy between Barcelona SC and Luis Chango. With a conciliatory tone, the director champion with the team in 2020 asked for a cease to the comments of the honorary director of Mushuc Runa against the canarios.
The controversy began last weekend with Alfaro Moreno's comment analyzing the possibility of donating the old lights from the Monumental stadium to Mushuc Runa's stadium, located in the community of Echaleche, Tungurahua.
This provoked Chango's reaction, who highlighted in an interview with Radio Caracol de Ambato: "We are not scrap buyers to receive old lights. They should sell the lights as scrap to pay off the debts (...) Barcelona is the champion thanks to LigaPro, not for its merits."
"For me, the controversy is over. I have always been very respectful to Dr. Chango and all the fellow directors. If Dr. Chango speaks about Mushuc Runa, it appears in one media outlet, but when he speaks about Barcelona, it appears in many media outlets. When I mentioned the lights, it was with utmost respect to Mushuc Runa. I was born in another country and I must be infinitely respectful to the whole of Ecuador," explained Alfaro Moreno.
"I have formed football schools in all regions, traveled through the Amazon, the Sierra, Galapagos, seeing talent in Ecuador. That's how I have always handled myself, with enormous respect for the country. I am always very cautious and respectful," he added.
The president of the canarios, in the dialogue with Canal del Fútbol, emphasized: "Sometimes we get a little tired of looking for faults in Barcelona, that's why I didn't only emphasize the issue of the lights, that issue will be decided in the board, as it should be. It had been proposed in the past to illuminate the alternate fields and the parking lots (of the Monumental). My comment was very respectful." (D)
