Hernán Crespo resigned as the coach of Defensa y Justicia after winning the 2020 Copa Sudamericana. One of the options he is considering, according to the Argentine coach himself, is joining the Chilean national team.
In the southern country, they are in search of a replacement for Colombian coach Reinaldo Rueda. The Chilean National Professional Football Association (ANFP) is working on hiring a new coach, keeping in mind the next round of qualifiers to be played in the last week of March.
After negotiations with Matías Almeyda fell through, as he could not separate from San Jose Earthquakes in the MLS, the focus shifted to Hernán Crespo. However, the former Defensa y Justicia coach also has proposals from Brazilian football.
"I haven't signed with anyone or left Defensa for another situation. I thought it was right to evaluate and release Defensa because it was not healthy for the leaders or the players to have this constantly hanging over us. I have spoken with Santos, São Paulo, and the Chilean national team, but I haven't decided anything," Crespo said to TyC Sports.
