Jesús Corona's performances at Porto continue to surprise many; however, for Alfred Schreuder, it is something ordinary due to his qualities.
His former coach at Twente stated for O Jogo that "ever since I knew him, I saw that he was a great player with a lot of talent. What we tried to do in the first six months was to work on his professionalism, that is, to make him work hard every day, even in training. From there, we never had any more problems," he said to the Portuguese newspaper.
Despite 'Tecatito' arriving late to the 'Dragões Azuis' (until Matchday 3 of the league) and playing his first full match on November 8th, he has performed at the level of renowned former players such as Hulk, Ricardo Quaresma, or James Rodríguez.
And it is that Jesús Corona will end his first half of the season with six goals in nine matches in the Portuguese league, so Schreuder insisted that "he is very talented and intelligent. When I saw him in practice, he reminded me of Romario. He is not a winger, nor a striker, nor a number 10; but he can do everything and play anywhere."
Alfred Schreuder finished by saying that the Portuguese league will only be a stepping stone for his career.
"He jumped from Twente to Porto, but I don't think he will stay there. I am convinced that it will only take two years for him to make another leap because Porto will not be the end. If he continues to evolve as he has been, he will be able to play for Barcelona or Real Madrid."
