Soccer Player Robert Piris da Motta makes his debut in the Turkish League
Paraguayan midfielder Robert Piris da Motta, 26, started and played the entire match in which his team, Gençlerbirligi SK, drew 0-0 at home against Konyaspor in the second round of the Turkish Super League.
With this draw, Robert's team earns their first point in the standings. In the next round, Gençlerbirligi SK will have a bye, and their next match will be on October 4th, away against Besiktas.
This was the midfielder's absolute debut in European soccer, after his time at Flamengo in Brazil, the team with which he became champion of Brazilian football and the Copa Libertadores.
"I made my debut today in the Turkish League, it is a very physical game. I felt very good, I hadn't been playing for a long time. Making a comparison, the league is somewhat similar to Argentine soccer, there is a lot of contact," said Robert in an interview with 800 AM on Saturday.
Excited about the Paraguayan National Team
The midfielder was one of the pre-selected players by Eduardo Berizzo, coach of the Paraguayan National Football Team, for the South American Qualifiers beginning on October 8th.
"I am happy to be called up to the national team, I hope to make the final squad. It is always an honor to be part of the national team, I always have the expectation to be there. If I am not, I will support and work to be there in the future," he added.
La Albirroja will face Peru on Thursday, October 8th at the Defensores del Chaco stadium and will visit Venezuela on October 13th.
