Another one discarded at Barcelona

According to RAC1, coach Ronald Koeman informed talented midfielder Riqui Puig that he does not count on him for his project in the Blaugrana team and, as a first measure, left him out of Saturday's match against Elche, valid for the Joan Gamper trophy.

"The coach considers that he is not the type of player he needs for his style and for his game, and that the best thing he can do is to look for an exit for this upcoming season, at least," said the Catalan radio station.

According to RAC1, the Dutch coach told the 21-year-old player, who emerged from La Masía, to look for an exit here until October 5, when the transfer market closes.

Riqui Puig is under contract with Barcelona until 2021. If Barcelona confirms that they do not count on him, the player may request compensation or refuse to leave the team and stay to try to change Ronald Koeman's mind.

The new Barcelona coach also discarded Luis Suárez and Arturo Vidal. With the option of signing for Juventus falling through, the Uruguayan could end up at Atletico Madrid or continue at the Catalan club as a second option for Koeman, while the Chilean practically has his incorporation to Inter Milan closed.
