"Yesterday he trained for 25 or 30 minutes. We will wait for today's training to see how he responds and then we will make the decision," said in the press conference before the group stage match of the Nations League against Sweden.
"If he is fit, the probability of playing is high, but if not, he will not play. The infection is practically neutralized, if he trains well with his teammates, he will play and probably start," added the coach.
Cristiano missed last Saturday's match against Croatia, in which the "quinas" won 4-1, after contracting an infection during the concentration in Lisbon.
Asked about how the team prepares with and without Cristiano, the Portuguese coach said they always follow the same strategy.
"Obviously, with Ronaldo, there are important things that we don't have to work on. But that happens with Portugal and any other team that may have the best player in the world. Anyway, we all work together to win and Ronaldo is part of that strategy," he referred.
The Portuguese national team, the current defending champion of the Nations League, is first in Group 3 with three points, the same as France, who will face Croatia tomorrow.
