The controversy surrounding Denis Cheryshev in the Copa del Rey continues to generate debate everywhere.
Now, the one who spoke up was the legendary Luis Figo, who didn't mince his words when asked about the player's situation in that sanctioned match.
Luis Figo was clear and direct when addressing Russian player Denis Cheryshev, stating that he should also be aware of his sanctions and punishments. In other words, he placed part of the blame on him.
"In my time, I don't think there was anyone responsible for such a situation. At least, if I was ever sanctioned, I was conscious of it and knew I couldn't play," he said. He added, "It's the Committee that has to decide," clarified Luis Figo.
And to conclude, he spoke about the FIFA presidency elections. "At this moment, I'm not a candidate. I didn't pursue that path because everyone told me I was too young, so I still have time to reach that position," affirmed the former Portuguese player.
