Mourinho, regarding the pardon to City:

Portuguese coach José Mourinho, from Tottenham Hotspur, described the decision of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) not to sanction Manchester City as a "disgrace" and a disaster.

Portuguese coach José Mourinho, from Tottenham Hotspur, described the decision of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) not to sanction Manchester City as a "disgrace" and a disaster.

TAS lifts Manchester City's ban from European competition

The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) concluded on Monday that the evidence against City was inconclusive and that the charges had expired, therefore deciding to lift the two-year ban on competing in Europe and sanctioning them with a fine of €10,000 for non-cooperation in the investigation.

In Tuesday's press conference, Mourinho, the Portuguese coach, criticized the verdict.

"I know it's easy for them to pay that money, but still. If you're guilty, you have to be expelled from the competition. I'm nobody to know if they are guilty or not. My criticism is directed towards the decision," Mourinho pointed out.

"If Manchester City is not guilty, fining them with a few million is a disgrace. If you're not guilty, you shouldn't be punished, and if you are, they should suspend you. In any case, it's a disaster. I'm not saying they are guilty, but if you're not, you don't pay anything, not a single pound," he added.

Furthermore, Mourinho stated that this case could be the end of the Financial Fair Play because "it doesn't make sense."

"Now we're talking about Manchester City, but before there were other clubs in similar situations and we all know how it ended. So I think it's best to open the doors and let everyone enjoy. At least do it with freedom," the Tottenham coach concluded.
