The Paraguayan football player of the moment
Miguel Almirón is the Paraguayan football player of the moment. The skillful attacking midfielder has been standing out in the recent matches with Newcastle United in the English Premier League.
An anecdote involving Lionel Messi
Rubén Almirón, the player's father, spoke this Tuesday with a local media referring to the current situation his son is going through and also revealed an anecdote involving Lionel Messi, star of Barcelona.
The father of Miggy explained that in the match between Argentina and Paraguay for the 2019 Copa America, which ended in a 1-1 draw, his son tried to exchange shirts with Messi, but apparently the Argentine star refused.
"He is not one to change shirts with players very often, with Messi he once wanted to exchange, but it seems Messi didn't want to," Rubén said in a conversation with 970 AM.

On the other hand, Miguel's father commented on the rumors indicating that the player would be on the radar of Atlético de Madrid from Spain. "The Cholo Simeone thing is just a rumor from a Spanish media, there is nothing to it," he stated.
Almirón has scored 8 goals (4 in the Premier League and 4 in the FA Cup) with the Newcastle shirt since his arrival at the club in January 2019.
