The president of Barcelona, Josep Maria Bartomeu, assured on Tuesday that the technical director Quique Setién, who had been questioned after the last results, will continue to lead the Catalan club.
"Setién will continue, obviously," said Bartomeu in an interview with the Catalan radio Rac1.
"I am quite happy with the evolution we are showing in the matches despite the draws. In the last games, I have seen a better image, and I hope it continues like this," added the president of Barcelona.
The 4-1 victory over Villarreal on Sunday in the 34th round of La Liga has boosted morale in the Barcelona team, after the previous draws that had led to questioning the work of the Barcelona coach, appointed in January as a replacement for Ernesto Valverde.
"I do not regret the change of Valverde. The team needed a boost. Setién knows our DNA, the model, and has brought new air and new ideas and is working hard," insisted Bartomeu.
The Barcelona president recognized, however, that "coaches, obviously, are subject to results, but I am happy with the team's evolution."
Barcelona is in second place in the league, four points behind the leader Real Madrid, with twelve points to play, but Bartomeu was reassuring.
"If La Liga, which is difficult, is not won, then the Champions League comes in August. We must try to win one first and then the other," said Bartomeu, who anticipated that Barça is trying to ensure that the second leg of the Champions League Round of 16 against Naples is played at the Camp Nou instead of in a neutral field.
