The Mallorca has assigned a monthly salary and pays the rent for an apartment to its young star Luka Romero Bezzana, born in Durango (Mexico), U-15 international player for the Argentina national team and known as the 'Mexican Messi' due to his playing style and physical resemblance to the Barcelona crack.

Luka, whose value has skyrocketed after coach Vicente Moreno called him up to train with the Mallorca first team ahead of Barcelona's visit, does not have a professional contract with Mallorca. He is 15 years old and will have to wait until November, when he turns 16, for his representatives to negotiate the terms of a new agreement, which would already include a termination clause.

At that age, he will also have to decide which national team to play for if he is called up: Argentina, Mexico or Spain, as he holds all three nationalities.

Mallorca will try to protect a player with a great future ahead, as he has shown in the club's youth divisions and especially after his outstanding performance with the Albiceleste in the South American Championship held last year in Paraguay.

Sources close to the Balearic club have admitted to EFE that it will be "difficult" to retain a player with Luka's characteristics if any of the "big clubs" show interest in him.

They consider that in these cases, the termination clauses set are "worthless paper," and emphasize that the "important" thing is the family's opinion and their commitment to Mallorca as a secure platform to reach the first team.

They highlight that the fact of paying the rent for a 15-year-old's apartment in Palma, which is high according to the current real estate market on the island, and a monthly salary of around a thousand euros, demonstrates the club's "blind trust" in him.

Luka Romero has always been treated preferentially in Mallorca and, in fact, he does not play in the cadet division, the category that corresponds to his age, but rather with the youth teams. They consider it a "gesture" to the player and his family that he trains with the first team, where he has shown a special connection with the second coach, Argentine Daniel Pendín, and the Colombian striker Cucho Hernández.

In any case, Mallorca will do everything in its power to keep Luka Romero's progression in the club and avoid a repetition of the cases of other "gems" from its academy, such as Marco Asensio and Mateu Morey, both in their teens when they left. Asensio was 18 years old when he signed with Real Madrid in 2014 for just 4 million euros, and Morey, now a player for Borussia Dortmund, went to La Masía of FC Barcelona at the age of 15. EFE
