Villarreal CF defender Funes Mori out for the season due to serious injury
The Argentine defender for Villarreal CF, Ramiro Funes Mori, will not play for the remainder of the season after it was confirmed on Monday that he has suffered a rupture of the direct tendon of the rectus anterior in his right leg.
This was announced by the castellonense club through their official channels and the medical services of the club after conducting medical tests on the player in recent hours following his injury in the training session last Thursday.
After confirming the seriousness of the injury, the player will undergo surgery on Tuesday afternoon, most likely at the Hospital Quirón Salud in Barcelona and performed by Dr. Ramón Cugat.
The club has not disclosed how long the Argentine player will be out, but this injury and surgical intervention have a rehabilitation period of over three months.
Villarreal CF left with three central defenders
This absence once again leaves Villarreal with only three central defenders, a situation that already occurred in the first half of the season, although Funes Mori is not a starter this season as he has only played in the absence of Pau Torres, who is a regular in that position.
The option to mitigate Funes Mori's absence is the player from the reserve team, Sofiane Chakla, even though he is a right-sided defender, while the Argentine is left-footed.
