The former coach of Real Madrid, Fabio Capello, claimed he did not invent the comments made by Ruud van Nistelrooy about the club's dressing rooms. In an interview with Cadena Ser, the Italian also recounted that Ronaldo did not want to lose weight.
"He told me later that there was a smell [of alcohol]. I do not lie and I will not make anything up about someone I loved as a player and as a person. To me, it never smelled of alcohol. I was in another area. We are not going to make this into something important," Capello affirmed.
He also explained that Ronaldo did not lose weight and his level declined. "He had an impressive quality, when I put him alongside Van Nistelrooy, I thought they could score many goals and we lost six matches. It's true that he was very overweight and did not want to control or lose weight. On paper, it was the best partnership, on the field, the worst. The result was not very good," Capello added.
Fabio Capello coached Real Madrid in two periods, 1997 and 2007, and won two La Liga titles. The Italian coach is considered one of the best coaches in the white team.
