I became a Barcelona supporter because when I was little, the majority of people from Guayaquil were followers of the club; furthermore, Pedro Villalta, my cousin who had played for Barcelona (scored a goal in the first match in history against Emelec, in 1943), would take me to the stadium (Guayaquil, later renamed Ramon Unamuno) to watch the team play and that's when I became a fan.
Later on, I had one of the greatest honors of my life: playing for Barcelona. Not just anyone wears that shirt because it truly carries weight.
I made my debut at 16 years old, being almost a child and that's why I love Barcelona like my life. Being part of the club brought me countless satisfactions like being champion of Asoguayas and the national tournament.

Crowning with Barcelona makes one feel an unlimited happiness. I have no words to define that feeling. The affection that people showed us was incredible; the children wanted to touch us as if we were from another world.
I retired as the Ecuadorian champion in 1966, at the age of 30, and finished my studies to graduate as a civil engineer, which is my profession. I also had another situation that I am grateful for: having played for Barcelona with my brother Simon at a time when there was more affection from the players towards the club. Now that seems like it's from another world.
This anniversary coincides with a pandemic, but there will be time to celebrate my beloved club. (O)
