Amid the quarantine and the halt of sports activity in Chile, this Tuesday two players from Audax Italiano were involved in a fatal accident in the morning hours.
As far as it is known, Rodrigo Holgado was driving his car accompanied by his teammate, Manuel Fernández, and, in a distraction, he ran over and caused the death of a 60-year-old motorcyclist on Vespucio Sur Highway.
On the other hand, Holgado was arrested and Fernández, the co-pilot, was taken to a nearby clinic due to his injuries. However, what aggravates the situation for the forward of the Chilean team is that, according to the authorities, he was driving under the influence of alcohol.
For this reason, the South Metropolitan Prosecutor's Office published on their social media that preventive detention has been ordered for Holgado for 120 days, which will be the duration of the accident investigation.
As a reminder, Rodrigo Holgado was having a great campaign with Audax Italiano and became the top scorer of the first phase of the Copa Sudamericana after scoring a hat-trick against Cusco FC and eliminating them from the tournament.
