Although neither party has spoken out, Barcelona and Juventus are negotiating for Brazilian midfielder Arthur Melo to become the new player for the Italian champions next season. A few weeks ago, Juve contacted Barcelona to express their intention to sign the player who was chosen as the best player in the 2017 Copa Libertadores and for whom they would offer a good amount of money.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Juventus' offer would reach 35 million euros, and if it does not meet Barça's expectations, they are also prepared to include players in the deal, with one of them potentially being Bosnian midfielder Miralem Pjanic. On the Barcelona side, they consider it the right time to take advantage of a player who cost 31 million euros and who, in the eleven games managed by Quique Setién, only started in four. For now, the Italian team has informed the Barcelona officials that Arthur is the missing piece for their coach Maurizio Sarri to strengthen his team and they have requested permission to negotiate with the player, which has been accepted.
However, Arthur himself has made it clear that he does not want to leave Barcelona and feels very comfortable in the city. However, the lack of minutes and the possibility of losing his starting position in the Brazilian national team could change his mind. For now, the negotiation is still open and it could be defined in the next few hours.
