UEFA plans to finish Champions League and Europa League seasons by September
The UEFA is preparing a program that, in accordance with the health emergency caused by the coronavirus, will allow the 2019-2020 season of the Champions League and Europa League to be completed before next September.
The European Cup was interrupted in mid-March when four second leg matches of the round of 16 were still pending: Barcelona vs Napoli, Manchester City vs Real Madrid, Juventus vs Lyon, and Bayern Munich vs Chelsea.
According to "Sky Sport", these matches will be played on August 7th and 8th, followed by the subsequent rounds, always with two legs and three days of rest between them: the quarterfinals would be played on August 11th-12th and 14th-15th, while the semifinals would be organized on August 18th-19th and 21st-22nd of the same month.
Seven days after the last semifinal, the Atatürk Olympic Stadium in Istanbul would host the final (on the 29th).
The European matches would be played after all the national championships end, which could resume at the beginning of June and finish at the end of July.
As for the Europa League, the competition was interrupted when only six out of the eight first leg matches of the round of 16 had been played.
UEFA plans to play the remaining first leg matches, Sevilla vs Roma and Inter vs Getafe, on August 2nd and 3rd respectively, with the second legs to be played three days later, on the 6th.
The quarterfinals, with two legs, would be played between August 10th and 13th, while the semifinals would be on the 17th and 20th. One week later, the Energa Stadium in Gdansk would host the final (on the 27th).
