Cesc Fabregas, Spanish midfielder for AS Monaco, announced that his great-grandmother, who is 95 years old, has contracted coronavirus. The diagnosis was made when she and other elderly residents of the assisted living facility he financially supports in his hometown of Arenys de Mar (Barcelona) were transferred to a hotel.
"She is 95 years old and unfortunately, she has contracted the coronavirus. There were many people in the residence who hadn't contracted it, and we wanted to transfer them to a hotel. They performed tests on everyone and 70% tested positive, including my great-grandmother," he revealed to the Spanish channel La Sexta.
Cesc remains in Monaco with his partner and children, feeling helpless because he cannot visit: "On Thursday, we had a video call with her, and she seems to be doing well and staying positive. The worst part is not being able to be with her and give her a hug. We hope she can overcome it even though we know it can be difficult," he said. EFE
