The Serbian coach Radomir Antic, former coach of Real Madrid, Barcelona, and Atlético de Madrid, died this Monday in Madrid at the age of 71, the Colchonero reported in an official statement.

"Today is a sad day for the rojiblanca family. Atlético de Madrid is in mourning for the death of our former coach Radomir Antic (Serbia, 22-11-1948). The former rojiblanco coach died at the age of 71. Antic is one of the legendary figures who occupied our bench, leading our team in 189 official matches over five seasons," Atlético said in their statement.

Antic arrived at Atlético in 1995 and was the main pillar of the historic double in 1996. He is the fourth coach in the history of Atlético de Madrid with the most official matches managed.

In 1985 he started his coaching career at Partizan Belgrade, where he won two leagues and stayed until 1988. That year he signed with Real Zaragoza, where he remained until 1990. In the middle of the 1990-91 season, he signed with Real Madrid and that season the team finished third in the league.

In the following season, 1991-92, he was dismissed at the end of the first round, although Real Madrid was the leader of the league. In the 1992-93 season, he went to Real Oviedo and remained in the team for that season and the following two. In 1995, Jesús Gil signed him to coach Atlético de Madrid.

Today we bid farewell to Radomir Antic, who was the coach of FC Barcelona in 2003. Barcelona is in mourning for the loss of a man who was much loved in the world of football. Rest in peace 🙏
