Carlos Queiroz, coach of the Colombian National Team, put one hand on his chest and the other in his pocket, that's why he offered the reduction of his salary as a generous act in the face of the coronavirus health crisis. However, his gesture was rejected by Ramón Jesurún, chief of Colombian football, who thanked but did not accept it.
"Since the beginning of the pandemic, Coach Queiroz and his coaching staff generously offered our executive committee the reduction of their salaries," Jesurún said.
The president of the Colombian Football Federation did not specify the exact amount of the reduction proposed by the Portuguese, but praised his intention.
"At the moment, it has not been necessary, but the gesture is from a great gentleman. The entity I lead is solid, but not rich, it has many obligations. We must have prudence and tranquility in this difficult moment," highlighted the leader.
Carlos Queiroz, 67 years old, was officially announced on February 7, 2019, as the new strategist of the Colombian National Team, replacing the Argentine José Pekerman, with whom the coffee growers qualified for the 2014 Brazil and 2018 Russia World Cups.
