The league of Belarus remains as the only stronghold of European football, the only domestic competition that continues active regardless of the break affecting the others in the Old Continent due to the coronavirus pandemic.

This Saturday, the bulk of the second round was played, which started on Friday with two matches and will conclude on Sunday with another two. For now, provisionally, the leader is FC Minsk, who won the derby against Dinamo 3-2, although tied on six points with Energetik Bgu Minsk and Torpedo Zhodino.

The duel had a clear local color in the first half with goals from Vladimir Khavashchinski in the opening minute, Yevhenii Chagovets (m.41), and Roman Gribovski (m.45), but Dinamo, despite being reduced to ten men due to the expulsion of Miha Goropevsek (m.59), came close to equalizing after reducing the disadvantage through goals from Evgeniy Shikavka (m.77), from a penalty, and Ivan Bakhar (m.80).

Energetik Bgu Minsk had won 1-0 against Ruh Brest on Friday and Torpedo Zhodino had won 1-0 against Belshina Bobruisk also on the eve.

This Sunday, Isloch and Vitebsk could join the group of leaders if they win on the fields of Smolevichi and Neman Grodno, respectively.

BATE Borisov, who won thirteen consecutive leagues and has repeatedly reached the group stage of the Champions League, and is the most well-known team currently in this league, lost 2-1 at the Slavia Mozyr despite taking the lead with a goal from Icelandic player Willum Thor Willumsson in the tenth minute. Nikita Melnikov, with a double (m.32 and 48), achieved the comeback and the second consecutive defeat for Alyaksey Baha's team.
