The defeat at the Santiago Bernabéu against Real Madrid meant that Barcelona loses first place in La Liga and the questioning of the blue and garnet bench returns. These have not only reached Quique Setién, but have also targeted and with more force, Éder Sarabia, his assistant.
During the Spanish Clásico, Sarabia was caught complaining vehemently about some specific plays by Barca's players, such as Antoine Griezmann or Sergio Busquets, a situation that did not sit well with the team.
"Eder is a guy with a great temperament, which is beneficial for many things. But he has to learn to control himself. He is working on it, trying to improve this issue because we have already had situations like this. They are becoming more sporadic, but it's something we don't like," said Quique Setién in an interview with El Periódico.
"It's not an excuse. It's an issue that Eder is trying to solve. He is a young guy, an impulsive guy, who has a lot of energy, which is tremendously positive for many things. But we are on the bench of a club that we represent and behavior should be impeccable. It's true that there is an isolated moment where anything can happen, you go crazy and lose control, but we have to try to control it," the coach added.
Setién explained that he has talked to Sarabia to avoid making the same attitude mistakes in future matches, also taking responsibility for the case.
"Of course, we have talked. He is also concerned. We don't take this situation lightly. It's an issue that we must improve ourselves. We are trying to find a solution. And he is working on it. We have already apologized where necessary. Especially me because, in the end, it's my fault. I have to control these things," he mentioned.
