Alberto Díaz, executive director of LigaPro, said yesterday in an interview with the Quito radio station Área Deportiva that Barcelona is "an income-generating machine," when asked about financial fair play. "Each club has a different situation. It is analyzed on a case-by-case basis. Liga (Q) wanted to invest in more players, but it can no longer do so. Barcelona has many debts, but its capacity to generate income is a machine."

"Regarding the various criticisms of the championship's broadcasts," he said: "I know that the quality of the tournament on TV can improve, but we are not in a position to tell them (GolTV) how much to invest to improve. But these are things that are being analyzed and we are looking into."

And he responded: "Aren't they the ones who attract the most viewers at those hours? We think about the general viewer," when he was told that Barcelona and Emelec hardly have their schedules changed. (D)
