Nacional returns to be defeated, this time 1-3 by Bahia from Brazil
In the second leg of the first phase of the Copa Sudamericana played this Wednesday at the Luis Alfonso Giagni stadium, belonging to Sol de América, Nacional was defeated again.
The Academy needed three goals to equalize the series and not concede any to take the definition to penalties, but the opposite happened. The team from Barrio Obrero received three goals in 45 minutes for a 6-0 difference in the aggregate.
Only 3 minutes into the match, Élber scored the first goal for Bahia. Everything was in favor of the visiting team. Near the end of the first half, Luis Cabral committed a penalty by intentionally touching the ball with his hand, giving Gilberto the opportunity to extend the lead (29 m).
Bahia's onslaught continued. In the 45th minute, Gilberto scored the third goal, his second of the match, to extinguish any hope for Nacional.
In the second half, Nacional scored early through a penalty kick awarded for a foul on captain Lucas Fonseca. Leonardo Villagra put the first goal for the home team at the 50th minute.
With a large difference on the scoreboard, Bahia slowed down and wasted time with possession. Roberto Torres' team tried their best, showed heart, but was inferior in almost every aspect of the game. Furthermore, qualifying was a miracle considering the 3-0 result from the first leg, and it was far from reach in the second leg.
