Irish National Team qualifies for Euro 2016
The Irish national team qualified for the Euro 2016 for the third time in its history by defeating Bosnia in the playoffs. With a double by Jon Walters, Ireland won 2-0 in Dublin and sealed the series with a global score of 3-1, after drawing 1-1 as a visitor in the first leg.
Walters, who returned to the Irish team today after a suspension, was the star of the day by scoring the goals of the match at 24 (penalty) and 70 minutes.
Ireland is once again in the Euro after qualifying in 2012. The other occasion in which it had participated in the top European football tournament was in 1988.
England, Wales, Northern Ireland, and Republic of Ireland will play in Euro 2016. England, Wales, Northern Ireland, and Scotland played in the 1958 World Cup.
