Juventus has confirmed the loan to Barcelona of Brazilian midfielder Matheus Pereira as part of a swap deal that saw Spanish forward Alejandro Marqués permanently join the Italian club.

"Juventus announces that it has finalized the following agreements with Football Club Barcelona: free temporary loan, until June 30, 2020, of the right to the sporting performances of the footballer Matheus Pereira da Silva," reads the official statement of the Turin club.

"The contract also includes the obligation to acquire the player permanently if certain sports objectives are achieved in the 2019-2020 season. The price for the permanent sale is 8 million euros," it adds.

Matheus Pereira, a midfielder born in Rio de Janeiro in 1998, has been with Juventus since 2016 and was loaned to French side Dijon last summer after playing just three games last season.

Juventus decided to make a swap with Barcelona because they consider Matheus Pereira to have more suitable characteristics for the Spanish League, while they see Alejandro Marqués, a powerful forward over 190 centimeters, ready to compete in Italy.

"Permanent acquisition of the right to the sporting performances of player Alejandro Marqués in exchange for 8.2 million euros. Juventus has signed a contract with the player until June 30, 2024," informed the team coached by Maurizio Sarri.
