The future of Ernesto Valverde at FC Barcelona seems uncertain
After a past season in which the possibility was widely discussed, it seems that Ernesto Valverde could be living his last months as the head coach of FC Barcelona. Several critical voices have emerged, criticizing the work of the coach from Extremadura. Despite dominating the domestic championship, the Catalan team fails to deliver the expected performance in key moments of the Champions League.
Although for now the approach has been to remain calm, it is expected that this situation will be addressed at the end of the season. However, information about possible alternatives for the bench is constantly emerging. One of the most talked about options is the Dutchman Ronald Koeman, a well-known figure within the club after his time as a player and now leading the Dutch national team.
Another alternative that has been mentioned is the Spanish Roberto Martinez, who currently also coaches a national team, in this case Belgium. Therefore, for any of these two possibilities to significantly progress, we will have to wait for the conclusion of the Eurocup that will be held next summer.
Now, another name emerges on the horizon. This is precisely what the information published on the front page of the Sport newspaper states. According to this source, it is a former Barcelona player. Specifically, it is the Frenchman Thierry Henry, who, as the aforementioned newspaper reports, "a sector of the Barcelona Board believes that Thierry Henry's profile is suitable in case Valverde does not continue". Currently in charge of the Montreal Impact in the MLS, Henry's coaching experience is limited to his role as assistant to Roberto Martinez in the Belgian national team and three months as the manager of AS Monaco, where he replaced Leonardo Jardim and was dismissed due to poor results.
