The Lazio won this Sunday by 3-1 against Juventus from Turin in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia), with goals from Spanish Luis Alberto, Bosnian Senad Lulic and Danilo Cataldi, and conquered the fifth Super Cup in its history, the second consecutive at the expense of the Turin team.
After defeating Juventus in the 2017 Super Cup at the Olympic Stadium in Rome and inflicting the only defeat in the current season two weeks ago, Simone Inzaghi's Lazio triumphed again this Sunday in Riyadh against a not very brilliant Juventus team that had temporarily achieved a 1-1 draw thanks to Argentine Paulo Dybala.
It was the fifth Super Cup for Lazio, after those of 1998, 2000, 2009 and 2017, and the fourth time that Juventus has lost this trophy in the last eight attempts, all consecutive.
For the eleventh time in its 32 editions, the Italian Super Cup was awarded outside of Italy and the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) chose to repeat Saudi Arabia as the venue, after last year Juventus conquered this trophy against Milan in Jeddah. EFE
