The performance of Claudio Pizarro in Europe is undoubtedly applaudable, the achievements have made him seen as one of the best South American forwards. This has not gone unnoticed by the great football stars, such as former footballer Roque Santa Cruz, who praised the 'Andean Bomber'.
"He is a different player who has made a mark in Europe for South Americans, so he has always represented us well. We have to congratulate him for the football history he has made, the joy he has brought to his country and to all those who have seen him as an idol," said Santa Cruz to Movistar Deportes.
The former Bayern Munich forward also showed his support for Pizarro in his retirement at the end of the season. "I receive it with sadness, but he has had a long career. He has been spared from injuries, he is a player of great quality with whom I have a very good friendship. I hope he can enjoy his last months and matches and take the best memories from all of this," he said.
Claudio Pizarro and Roque Santa Cruz shared a dressing room at Bayern Munich for six consecutive seasons, from 2001 to 2007. During those years, they won several titles including leagues and cups in Germany.
