Zinedine Zidane still has the final say
Although Ajax Amsterdam's unexpected exit from the Champions League has created a more than favorable scenario to approach his signing, Real Madrid's board will not pursue Donny van de Beek until the coach gives his definitive approval.
As of today, Zidane has no intention of endorsing the operation, as he believes that the only player who can truly improve the performance of the midfield is his compatriot Paul Pogba. The club is aware of this, but wants to show their coach that, right now, recruiting the Frenchman is almost a mission impossible, and that, instead, Van de Beek could join the squad relatively easily. According to OK Diario, in Chamartín, they believe that an offer between €50 and €60 million would be enough for the directors of the Dutch team to allow his departure.
In addition to his cost, the midfielder is highly liked in the noble floor of the Santiago Bernabéu for his physical and technical qualities. In fact, last summer, the club seriously considered his signing, which ultimately did not happen due to, among other things, Zidane's insistence on Pogba and Ajax's opposition to negotiate his departure.
Developed in the club's youth academy, Van de Beek (22 years old) joined the first team during the 2015-2016 season and since then has maintained a more than interesting progression that has allowed him to accumulate a total of 161 official matches (38 goals and 29 assists) and establish himself as one of the new leaders of the senior Netherlands national team (9 times international).
