Héctor 'el Negro' Enrique, former world champion with the Argentina national team in 1986 and assistant to Diego Armando Maradona in the 2010 World Cup, said that the saddest day for Lionel Messi was when Argentina lost 4-0 to Germany.

"Everyone was crying in the locker room. Diego, everyone. I will never forget Messi's tears and pain, it was more evident in him than in anyone else," the former player said in an interview with Infobae about Argentina's elimination in the 2010 World Cup. Germany won with goals from Thomas Muller, Arne Friedrich, and a brace from Miroslav Klose.

Furthermore, the former Lanús football player also defended Lionel Messi from his critics. "He feels the jersey. He's such a genius that if you play him in football tennis, he'll want to win 200-0, just like Maradona. They're such winners that they always want to win. It's not happening for him yet, but it will," he added.

After that quarterfinal match at the 2010 World Cup, the Argentina national team reached the final of the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, where they were once again defeated by Germany in the final. Mario Gotze scored the winning goal for the Germans in the 8th minute of extra time, denying the 'Albiceleste' a third consecutive World Cup title.
