John Jairo Cifuente put an end to his short, game-less stint in Barcelona SC in mutual agreement with the institution. The man from Esmeraldas had been announced by the outgoing leadership last September as a reinforcement for 2020 after his unsuccessful spell with Pyramids FC in Egypt.

"Barcelona Sporting Club informs the yellow fans that the player Jhon Jairo Cifuente Vergara and the institution have decided to mutually terminate their contractual agreement at no cost to our team," the club said in a statement issued this Monday.

The reason for the termination of the contract between Cifuente and Barcelona, as indicated by the torero team, is that "Mr. Carlos Alejandro Alfaro Moreno, elected president, along with the incoming board, considers that: 'the referred player has different characteristics from those they seek to implement in their sports project'".
