Inter Milan clinch victory over Bologna
Antonio Conte's side, who will face Barcelona in the Champions League, struggled to secure the three points at the Renato Dall'Ara stadium. In the end, determination, ambition, and accuracy provided the visitors with their second consecutive victory following their setback against Parma two matchdays ago.
Inter, who will face Borussia Dortmund in the European competition on Tuesday, had to come from behind in the final half-hour because in the 59th minute, a long-range shot from Roberto Soriano, assisted by Sweden's Mattias Svanberg, beat goalkeeper Samir Handanovic, who could have done better.
Conte made substitutions. Uruguayan Matias Vecino replaced Roberto Gagliardini in the 72nd minute, followed by Antonio Candreva replacing Cristiano Braghi two minutes later. The equalizer came shortly after.
Lukaku's opportunism was evident. He collected a rebound from goalkeeper Lukasz Skorupski after a scramble inside the box, and put the ball into the net.
And just when the match seemed destined for a draw, an added-time foul committed by Ricardo Orsolini on Argentine Lautaro Martinez resulted in a penalty. Romelu Lukaku made no mistake and secured victory for Inter, extending their pursuit of the Serie A leadership.
Federico el Ropero Santander came on as a substitute for Bologna in the 84th minute but had little involvement due to the limited playing time.
